September 13 to 20, 2008 with Sebastián Misse & Andrea Reyero

Sebastián and Andrea are two representatives of the new generation of Argentine tango dancers, choreographers and pedagogues. They express with passion, tradition and innovation an elegant and precise style of dance, characterised by great virtuosity. Therefore they are acclaimed as true tango dancers both by the general public and by the “milongueros”, and are mostly appreciated for the emotion they have been expressing in their dance throughout the world for the past decade.

Andrea starts at the age of 8 to study Argentine folklore dances and ballet. In 1993 she graduates from the National Dance Institute "Maria Ruanova" (Argentina) as a professor of Argentina Folklore dances. It is at this time that her passion for the tango takes her to the most traditional "milongas" of Buenos Aires where she meets and learns from celebrated salon dancers like : Alberto Villarrazo, Leonardo Lerman, Ernesto Castello, Pedro Faraldo and others. In 1994 she meets Sebastian Misse with whom she establishes a tango partnership. Together they represent the culture of the tango all over the world.

Also Sebastián starts his studies of Argentine folklore dances at the age of 8. In 1988 he takes his first tango steps. His attraction for the tango takes him to the most famous tango salons of Buenos Aires together with his sibblings Andrea, Stella and Gabriel. In 1990 he starts training with his most influential teachers Miguel Angel Zotto, Osvaldo Zotto and Antonio Todaro. In 1994 he meets Andrea Reyero and they become a profesional tango couple.

September 27 – October 4, 2008 with Wolfgang Sandt

Two hearts beat in Wolfgang’s breast, and it is difficult to say, whether his bigger passion is sculpture or tango. In any case he is an excellent teacher, who imparts to his students with patience, artistic creativity and a lot of humour the joy for those things, that fill him with enthusiasm. Wolfgang has been dancing tango since 1994. Among his teachers are Gustavo Naveira and Giselle Anne, Fabian Salas and Carolina del Rivero, Mariano“Chicho“ Frumboli and Eugenia Parilla, Kely and Facundo Posadas, Amira Campora, Metin Yazir, Graciela Gonzalez, Nestor Ray, Gloria and Eduardo Arquimbau, Yvonne Meissner and Eduardo Aquirre, Ruben Terbalca and many others. For him it is important not to teach figures and steps, but to impart to his students the ability to recognize the structure of the dance and its different elements, thus giving them the ability to invent playfully their own, always new “figures”. Consequence of this is a concept for a ”dialogue of the dancers “, where there are (almost) no “wrong steps”. This is certainly an excellent presupposition to have lots of joy with Argentine tango even as a beginner.

October 11 to 18, 2008 with Joseba Pagola & Bakartxo Arabaolaza

Joseba & Bakartxo come from San Sebastián (Basque country) where they have started a wave of Tango enthusiasm. They have been also teaching in Spain, France and Germany. Joseba and Bakartxo are focussing on the flow of energy within the couple, in close and in open embrace. They dance with every fibre of their body. Based on their training with Gustavo Naveira and Giselle Anne, Chicho Frumboli and Pablo Villarraza and Dana Frigoli they have created a style of their own: their Tango Nuevo is soft, lascivious and dynamic. And they love traditional music. How well this goes together they showed in „De Recuerdos y Tango" (their show "Of Memories and Tango"). They are inspired by the refined subtlety and joyous swing of old Tango music. In their classes they work very intensely with each individual participant and know how to explain even complex sequences of movements.

Laura originally from Brescia, Italy, has been living in Berlin for 25 years. She has started with Argentine Tango 13 years ago with Brigitte Winkler. She has partnered for several years "El Pajaro" Diego Riemer and organized a Milonga together with him. During her regular stays at Buenos Aires she was trained by Gustavo Naveira and Giselle Anne, Marianna Flores and Eduardo Capussi, Fernando Galera and Vilma Vega, Analia Vega and Marcelo Varela and Chicho and Lucia.

Andreas got into Argentine Tango 13 years ago. He has taught for several years in Bremen (Northern Germany) together with Thomas and Catalina and was mainly influenced by Fernando and Vilma, Nancy and Damian and Analia and Marcelo.

Laura and Andreas originally preferred the Milonguero-Style in close embrace. In the past years however they started to adopt elements of Tango Nuevo and to experiment with the open embrace. It is their aim to interpret the unique character of Tango music also in the “Nuevo Estilo”. In their lessons they emphasize on musicality, communication within the couple, playful movements.

¿O mejor a Arezzo o Siena?
